    US Government Shutdown

Post by _-Scarlett-_ on Mon Oct 14, 2013 8:57 am

I'll probably touch on the shutdown more in a subsequent post (if I get a response), but right now I want to ask your opinion about the protests that are going on at the national monuments.

I have tremendous respect and thanks for our veterans. I really, truly appreciate what they do/have done for our country. However, I think some are so self-entitled that they think they can get away with anything. I have absolutely zero respect for those that have "stormed the barricades" at the memorials that are shut down due to the government shutdown. They are closed for a reason. There are not enough staff to keep them clean, police them, and ensure they are safe and upkept. Instead of the veterans who come to visit these monuments taking their complaints to those who closed these monuments, they believe they have the RIGHT to tear down the barriers and walk around the monuments anyway! I feel like I am the only one who cares that they flagrantly break the law. It rub salt into the wound, those "politicians" in favor of the shutdown, help them, because how dare the government hurt our veterans! As if they aren't the cause! You veterans should take your indignation, and instead of breaking through the barricades, go protest those "politicans" for shutting down the government because they don't like a law that was passed and upheld by the Supreme Court.

Do any of you have any comments about this?
