Obviously the answer is always one of Terry's books, right? Right.

Now that we have that formality out of the way.. what else are you reading? Wink

Myself, I'm reading the latest novel in the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, 'Cold Days'. It's been out a while now but I'm just now getting to it. I just finished up the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks this weekend which are great books if anyone's looking for a quick, fast-paced, character driven story. Smile

    Dan Brown is interesting.

He kind of ticks all the right boxes in terms of thriller writing but something about his books doesn't sit right with me. I read them and I feel as if I should be enjoying them a lot more then I actually do. I haven't quite put my finger on it. I mean they're enjoyable I suppose but yeah, something isn't quite right.

Currently I'm reading a bunch of papers on Miocene/Pliocene rodents, a textbook on mammal evolution, and I just finished "The Godfather". If you've seen the movie, you've GOT to read the book. There's no comparison. The movie is good; the book is fantastic. Mario Puzo really knows how to make a genuinely evil man comprehensible, even someone you can sympathize with.

Finally got my hands on the library's copy of Brandon Sanderson's The Hero of Ages and am making my way through it s.l.o.w.l.y (Kids, love them, but they do put a bit of a damper on the amount of time I can spend buried in a book!)

I started (then put down) (and will pick back up again) a book about hikikomori. Basically, a social withdrawal syndrome that affects a TON of of people in Japan.

After I finish that (or toss it because it makes my brain hurt), I might pick up Omen Machine.

The Third Kingdom and Im liking it so far. Only about 200 pages in. Its not Terry's traditional style but the message is definitely Terry. As far as the technical aspects of the writing are concerned there are some things I think are more of a distraction for style than anything else but they arent bad enough to make me say Terry has lost his way.

I think some of the chapter breaks are truly unnecessary and seem forced if you will. I think Terry could do without trying so hard to fit a format the story is interesting enough as is.

I KNOW that word. I'm proud of myself.

Or should I not be because I know it because of my years spent in my hobbit hole watching anime?

At least I don't fit that description quite so much anymore... LOL
