Greetings and Salutations
If you don't remember me it's because you were never in my path in a debate. If you were, I hope you've healed and are ready for further punishment.

I do remember you. And I wasn't a debator. Just a moderator.

Hello CKyle. I remember you as well. I'm glad to see you modding. If I recall correctly you're a largely reasonable person.Ckyle7 wrote:I remember you also and I wasn't a debator or a moderator hahha. Welcome back!

Re: Greetings and Salutations
I've pretty much learned that if I'm going to moderate anything, it's best that I just remove the whole post instead of trying to snip pieces here and there. And I know that a lot of times there was never a reason given for said moderation... I do not do that. I will always go to the poster and give my reasons. That way the poster doesn't have to wonder just what is going on.

I largely agree. Of course, my primary form of moderation is no moderation. Unless you're posting something that's going to get my board raided by the FBI.

Re: Greetings and Salutations
Well, I had a small list of things that I wouldn't tolerate.
Vulgarity, harassment, and book/show spoilers were pretty much the only things I focused on. Nothing that would get the FBI to focus on the board... but still things that were completely unnecessary.
Needless to say I didn't have to do too much moderation.

I largely enjoy those things. Well, except the book spoilers. That's almost as bad as rape.

Except Ted the surveillance van driver. He really doesn't like people telling him about a book before he reads it.

Re: Greetings and Salutations
I think I recall you from a political debate. Seems like those things always ended up being people in teams debated sides back and forth. I recall a number of times I ended up on going at it solo with a bunch of people debating me. I recall it wasn't often that I agreed with Eclipses. For all I know after all these years we might be on the same page on at least a few things. I've changed a lot of my views. A big reason is because part of maturing for me was becoming content with being wrong about things so that I may be more open to inquiry. No great mystery is ever solved with out first realizing that one doesn't know in the first place.

Re: Greetings and Salutations
My favorite debates were the apparent open/shut debates that absolutely were slam dunks and yet someone would argue for the losing side so convincingly that it made you question something where you didn't think twice about before. And they knew they were doing it just to screw with you. LOL

Re: Greetings and Salutations
There was a rather legendary debate titled "Who Is John Galt?" or something....As I recall, the opposing side argued that they wanted oil, and therefore they deserved it, and being charged money was wrong.rainshadow wrote:My favorite debates were the apparent open/shut debates that absolutely were slam dunks and yet someone would argue for the losing side so convincingly that it made you question something where you didn't think twice about before. Debates were fun and I think most of you came to realize while I held differing views I was a reasonable fellow. I only ever tried to help people understand how I think and my reasons for it even if most thought it crazy.

Many of your "differing views" completely preclude you from being considered a "reasonable fellow". Werent you one of the Mormons?
