I have been waiting for this book for over two years. When I went to World-con in Reno, Brandon did a reading of the prologue. Honestly, it was probably the best writing I'd ever heard. I flat out loved it and couldn't wait for more.
The book finally came out on Tuesday, and I just finished it. I really liked the book, a lot. I wanted to love it. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good book. I still loved the prologue. I loved a lot of the book. I thought the pacing was pretty good. I enjoyed the action. Twists, turns, it was great.
I really only had one issue, which I'm going to hide behind spoiler tags.

- Spoiler:
- Honestly at some points it felt like I've read this book before. It was too much like Mistborn. Small group gets together to kill dictator, makes an elaborate plan, some things click into place, some things don't, ending. Different worlds, settings, characters, almost the same bloody plot. I know the themes are different. One is more about retribution, the other about setting up a new government, etc. But it was just too damn alike. Brandon could of done so much better.
Like I said, I still liked it, but I very much wanted to love it.
Edit- I forgot, I had two problems. This one is more spoilriffic.
I saw Megan being Firefight 20 miles away. Oh so predictable. I called it so early. And I never do that. That says something. Not so many twists as I thought.
