Re: Forum Suggestions
Is this going to be like the old site - a forum for each novel as well as separate general forums?
And hi.
EDIT: Never Mind

Maybe a general book section for people to discuss books not by TG?

Thirded. I know that DuDZiK, Rainshaddow, BrassButtons, and a few of the old crowd did fantastic book reviews._-Scarlett-_ wrote:Maybe a general book section for people to discuss books not by TG?

Re: Forum Suggestions
In a forum I ran I had changed the settings so newest posts appeared first so that the pages didn't need to be gone through to read the latest posts. It took some getting used to but was well-liked for simplicity's sake. Though I don't know if that is an option on this forum, or perhaps is a personalized option in the individual user's settings, which would make this statement moot.
Also, on my forum there was a chatbox, and that was quite popular amongst the members to just chitchat and cut down on spam in the threads - plus, it was nice to just be able to have easy, random conversations with whomever was online. I don't know if you would want to do that here, but I figured I would bring the option up.

Re: Forum Suggestions
It would be nice to have a subforum that is dedicated to asking for advice and suggestions on anything (health, life issues, cooking, gardening, beauty, boredom, whatever). I think there is a lot of potentially great advice, thoughts, and knowledge from our members.

Re: Forum Suggestions
Health advice would be tricky. While there is a nurse on the forum, that's it as far as medical professionals go.

Re: Forum Suggestions
Ah, I was thinking more like healthy lifestyle suggestions to questions than actual medical issues. For instance, umm, uses for comfrey leaf, or cleaning alternatives to chemicals, whatever. I really wasn't thinking much when I listed it, just wanted a few examples of things people ask advice about. I'm aware the internet in general is a great resource, but sometimes personal knowledge of worth can be difficult to come across. Like "what is a good source of calcium?" And someone might respond "puslane' which isn't commonly known. *SHRUG*
Or even just being able to suggest other resources with more info.

Re: Forum Suggestions
I would be hesitant to have so many forums/subforums. Stuff just gets cluttered, and a lot of times you wind up with one forum having just a few topics that could just as easily fall into the General Discussion forum.

Re: Forum Suggestions
would a "medical/health science" forum under the science category be good?

Re: Forum Suggestions
Personally I don't think it's necessary. At least not yet. If we get a lot of topics devoted to it then sure, but until then, I say we take a "let's wait and see" approach.
