What makes you happy?

In an attempt to pull myself out of a funk, I thought I would see what makes you all happy, ecstatic or joyful. Put it in list form so the quantity of happiness can be instantly observed! Here is my list, in no particular order:

- Watching my son develop.
- Family.
- That "click" moment a student has when you've tried and tried to teach them something and they finally understand.
- Friendship.
- I orgasm over the "perfect" photo opportunities (usually involving something naturally beautiful, like a landscape).
- The random moments of poetic (or artistic) inspiration that visit me every now and then.
- The smell of jasmine.
- Praise from someone you adore.
- Working hard to achieve a difficult goal.
- Dressing up in a costume to become a character.
- Bacon. Anything bacon. And cheese too.

This is my starting list, I aim to add to it as I remember other things that I cherish.

- Oh! I also love when my memory doesn't fail me.

Writing. Writing makes me happy.

And, of course, my family. My family makes me happy.

Since I moved to Manhattan Kansas and left my folks and older sister and niece behind, my sister has married with a good man who has a daughter my niece's age (they pretty much grew up as best friends, so it was only natural for the kids). They have had a little baby girl together (Dru is about a year and a half now, and sometimes it makes me sick to my stomach that I don't get to see her every day.).

Seeing the pictures and watching that little girl grow is pretty special. She's a cleft pallet baby and recently had correctional surgery that went VERY well. She's going to have speech trouble most of her life, but she's a beautiful and precious little girl. Hurts not being there, but damn, just thinking about her makes me happy.

I'm smiling, even if you can't see it.

Reading a good new book.

Swimming and being in the water.

Having a really good convo with a friend.

Getting to play with my nephew (he's 4, so I get to act like a kid again) (He's also the cutest kid in the world) (I may be a bit biased on that)

Reading a good book

Chatting online with my friends

Writing interactive fiction games (One day, I'll actually finish one)

Visiting my brother.

Visiting my other brother and sister-in-law. (and nephew)

Connecting with someone and having long, incredible, indepth conversations.

BACON! hahaha, but really:
FOOD. Oh god, food. I love food. Sushi, pizza, cheesy things, fruits, ice cream, I love food.

Animals make me really happy.

Drinking! I have so much fun drinking with a few good friends and having a good time.

FIREWORKS!!!

Art!

Colors and colorful things.

Unicorns.

Good music.

Beautiful clothing.

Makeup.

Corsets.

Old Victorian culture.

Dying and cutting my hair.

Creating something awesome.

Tattooing.

Saving lives.

Discovering little treasures.

Hugging a grumpy person.

Hugging a not-grumpy person.

Going on adventures.

Driving around in a car.

Hiking, camping, fishing!

Being with my dad.

Tips!

Money / my paycheck.

Buying dresses.

Wearing dresses.

SHOES. Oh god, I hate to admit it because it is such a typical "girl" thing but I LOVE shoes.

And again, another "typical girl thing" but... I love flowers.

I love nature, gardening, trees, flowers.

Good conversation.

Acting at haunted houses.

Dancing.

Improving my life.

Improving on patterns and systems.

Cutting paper.

Breaking things.

Glass.

Stained glass.

Antiques.

Oh man, I literally could continue for hours without stopping.

I make me happy. I choose my own happiness. (some things help make the choice easy)

Seeing my children make good choices.
Seeing and making my wife smile
Growing things in my garden (besides the weeds)
Reading good books
Learning new things
The peace of nature.

And of course BACON. (and cheese)

This tostada makes me SO happy!!!

Also, it made me happy at work when a customer told me to make him my favorite smoothie with the explanation: "I trusted you the moment I saw your socks." ( Ninja Turtle knee high socks, of course.)

i agree with the last one! I love going to thrift stores and finding books at great prices.
